The Treasure House Church
Introduction To Theology
Student Expectations:

  1. Virtue = Moral Excellency and Goodness.  (2 Peter 1:5-7)
  2. Integrity/Honesty = In our character and conduct in the assembly and on the outside to the others. (1 Timothy 3:7 & 1 Timothy 3:10)  Only one who is mature in the faith should be trusted with leadership.
    • Being Spiritually Prepared! Full of the Holy Spirit (possessing the Fruit of the Spirit). (Acts 6: Not greedy for money, but Reverent - serious in mind and character: Not silly or flippant about important matters. 1 Timothy 3:8-9) to some people and something else to others; their speech must not be hypocritical, but honest and consistent).  Love is the qualifying factor: Those in authority must "try the Spirits" to assure that those who exercise spiritual gifts actually "follow after love" as well as "desire spiritual gifts".  (1 Corinthians 13:1-3 & 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
    • Self-Control, Social Graciousness, Domestic Order, & Holy Living. The basis for continual Ministry is continual commitment to Godly Character.
  3. One must adapt good study practices: There will be weekly reading assignments.  Periodic memorization of scriptures as well as writing assignments. No excuses/releases will be accepted or given. (2 Timothy 2:14-16)
    • Acts 17:11 (read) These Jews who were called the Bereans did not have closed minds; They received the word of God with readiness.  Nor were they gullible; they searched the scriptures daily.
    •  2 Timothy 3:16-17All scripture is “Breathed Out By God!” Both the old and the new scripture.  The absolute authority of the Bible over our lives is based on our Conviction/Faith that this Book does not merely contain the Word of God, but that it IS the Word of God in its sum and in its part. A) it is the Word of the Holy Spirit.  Theopneustos (Greek), translation: “inspired of God,” literally means“God-breathed.”  This describes the source of the whole Bible.  The Bible is not the product of elevated human consciousness or enlightened human intellect, but is directly breathed by God Himself. B) 2 Peter 1:20-21 (read)refers to (Acts 3:18)… “But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.”
  4. Accountability = Having A Teachable Spirit. Proverbs 9:8-10 (read) It is of immeasurable importance for Christians to have a heart that is willing to be taught and receive instruction.  David – A Man Who Sought To Do Gods Will “…show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.”(Psalms 25:4) Jesus – The Greatest Example Of A Teachable Spirit. “Most Assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what he sees the Father do: For whatsoever things He does, these also does the Son likewise.” (John 5:19) 2 Timothy 3:1-5 Perilous times are characterized by all kind of self-centered and unnatural perversions. Some will maintain an outward pretense, speaking the vocabulary of Christianity, but refusing the reality that Christian Faith expresses. The Power that’s denied is the Heart of Christianity – the fact of our risen redeemer, the truth of the inspired Word and the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Do Not Be Deceived By Jargon Or Religiosity! One with spiritual wisdom possesses spiritual perception and a wise value system these ones learn how to gently persuade others without quarreling and not being easily deceived by false godly behavior. To give Godly wisdom we must possess sound doctrine! (Titus 2:1,  Titus 7-8) (read)
  5. Attendance: In order to receive a certificate of completion, students are required to attend 90% of class time. Any classes missed can be retaken in the Fall of 2014.

Scriptures To Understand & Memorize:
2 Timothy 2:14-17 New King James Version (NKJV)

Approved and Disapproved Workers
14 Remind them of these things, charging thembefore the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort,

2 Timothy 2:22-26
New King James Version (NKJV)

22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
